Four digital purchase formats
Start with the question: what should change after the order is completed? If the cash balance increases, it is a balance. If a specific plan appears - subscription. If the letter offers a separate procedure, issuance and activation are separate steps.

Where does a gift card work?
The card operates in the designated ecosystem and according to its rules. Apple, PlayStation and Microsoft maintain different balances: the code for one service does not pay for the other. Even within the same brand, hardware cards, digital content, subscriptions, and game promotional codes may vary.
Example: Xbox Gift Card adds money to Microsoft account balance, and Game Pass is then purchased separately. In Roblox, Credit may appear after the code, which still needs to be spent on Robux. Therefore, the phrase “code successfully accepted” must be accompanied by a check of the result for which you purchased the product.

ChatGPT: official gift card and Plus code
Official OpenAI gift card funds ChatGPT wallet. Under verified conditions, its purchase and redemption are limited to the United States and eligible USD accounts. This is a separate product from API billing, promotions and third-party service codes; sending code abroad does not remove the restriction.
New Go and Plus offers in Unlimit are issued with a code with a link to self-activation. They are not official OpenAI gift cards. Follow the terms of your order, check the requirements for a personal account without an active paid plan and the result in ChatGPT. Do not enter such code into OpenAI's random top-up field.

How to choose a compatible gift
Ask the recipient for the service, account country, and current plan. You don't need his password for this. If a person does not know the region, ask him to check the settings himself; Don't guess by the interface language.
Read the description of the specific product: denomination, expiration date, restrictions for new users, compatibility with an active subscription and activation method. The period of use of the code and the duration of the connected subscription are different parameters. A monthly gift may have a separate redemption deadline.

Check the recipient's country and platform.

Secure transmission and result verification
If you give a code as a gift, do not redeem it on your account for verification. Send privately and ask the recipient to independently open the official service or verified activation page from the order. For direct top-up, the recipient is selected earlier - before payment.
If there is a problem, first determine the stage: payment, code delivery, redemption or subscription appearance. Each stage has its own evidence: order number, letter, error message, account status. Do not publish the code, password or session itself. The refund policy depends on the product and usage; the promise “any code can always be returned” is unreliable.
