First select the appropriate Game Pass
Open the Game Pass offer under the account you will be playing on. Check your supported device, games you want, payment period, and renewal price. The names and composition of plans change, so you cannot rely only on the old review or the price of the first month.
If you are buying for a child, check his account and family settings. The card redeemed on your account does not become the balance of the child's account. Also, don't assume that every game is available on every Game Pass option.

What is the difference between a balance card and a subscription code
The country and denomination are checked for a cash card; the subscription code has a plan, term and activation restrictions. The purchase price of a code in rubles does not mean that it is intended for a Russian account. First, make sure the offer is available in your area.

How to activate the card and subscribe
On the Xbox page in Unlimit, select the region and denomination, enter your email and check the final cost. The code arrives after payment and order processing. You can repay it yourself: the seller does not need access to your Xbox profile.
Go to redeem.microsoft.com and verify your account before entering the code.
Enter the code and verify that Microsoft displays the expected product and amount.
Confirm the redemption and check the available balance.
Open your selected Game Pass and select Microsoft Balance, if available for that purchase.
Check the full amount and terms of renewal, confirm the purchase and find the subscription in Services and Subscriptions.

When the balance is insufficient or cannot be selected
Compare the balance to the full amount on the final screen, not the advertised price without possible taxes. If another payment method is required, do not approve the unscheduled charge. For some registration or renewal options, the store may require a valid payment instrument.
A separate case is an expired subscription. Microsoft explicitly states that gift cards, subscription cards, and account balances are not used to pay off debt. Don't buy another denomination if the error is due to a late payment: open its details and follow the Microsoft instructions.

How to control auto-renewal
After purchasing, go to account.microsoft.com/services. Check the end date of the paid period, the next payment and whether recurring debit is enabled. If you only want the paid period, use auto-renewal management and read the confirmation: canceling with a refund and disabling future charges can be different actions.
Save your card purchase confirmation and Microsoft receipt separately. If the code is not received, the question is addressed to the seller; if the money is already in your wallet, but the subscription is not issued, you need a Microsoft message, the name of the plan and the region. Do not post the full code in a public review.
