Account country is located in your Spotify profile and affects available plans, prices, and payment methods.
If the card was purchased for another country, activation may not work even with the correct code.

Buy a map of the same region.

Gift Card or direct Premium
Gift card is convenient as a gift: the recipient activates the code himself and does not transfer payment data. Direct Premium is more convenient for your own account when you know exactly the plan.
Before purchasing, check to see if your account is already connected to Family or Duo.

Current Premium status
If Premium is already active, the new code may change the next charge date or apply after the current period. Terms vary by plan and payment method.
Save your activation confirmation to see when your paid period is due to end.

Gift security
An account password is not required for a gift. It is enough to give the code to the recipient and explain that it needs to be activated in the official Spotify.
If someone asks for a login and password to “connect to Premium,” this is an unnecessary risk.
